AsiaInfo Services 02-12-2003 Domestic Players Watch on: Dell to Discard Floppy Disk GUANGZHOU, Feb 12, 2003 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- According to Dell Company,since this month, Dell will not take floppy drives as standardconfiguration in its partial desktop PC products. The company willimplement this policy to all desktops later on.
This meansfollowing Apple, Dell becomes the second large PC vendors in theworld to discard floppy disks in standard configuration of PCs. It is said that although most PC vendors have said that they aregoing to abandon floppy drives, and Apple even did so in its iMacserials in 1998, Dell is the first one to come out with a solidaction plan.
