MAXTOR TO BUILD HARD DISK PLANT IN CHINA WITH US$ 200 MILLION

AsiaInfo Services 03-04-2003 Maxtor to Build Hard Disk Plant in China with US$ 200 Million CHINA, Mar 04, 2003 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- The hard disk vendor Maxtor is about to build a plant in China with total investment of US$ 200 million and slim 8,000 staffs in Singapore saving cost and boosting competitiveness.

The new plant will be kicked of on March 21, 2003 and expected to be completed by the end of 2004. Paul Tufano, CEO of Maxtor, says that there are two reasons to build the new plant in China. The first is the concern in cost, and the other is that the new plant will produce low-end hard disks to meet the requirements of China's domestic market.
