NOKIA TO MAKE CDMA HANDSETS WITH ITS OWN CHIPS

AsiaInfo Services 04-17-2003 Nokia to Make CDMA Handsets with Its Own Chips CHINA, Apr 17, 2003 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- On April 14, Nokia announced that itwould make CDMA handsets in China. Previously China Unicom hadbegun the 3-month debugging over the newly-completed CDMA2000 1xnetwork. Nokia is waiting for China government's approval for CDMA handsetproduction.
Nokia revealed that the new handsets will be made bythe CDMA chip of Nokia its own. CDMA handset will be a bargaining tool of Nokia to combat moremarket shares in China. Nokia sells both handsets available for GSMand GPRS mobile network and handsets available for WCDMA (wide-bandCDMA).
