AsiaInfo Services 11-25-2003 China MoE and Microsoft to Bridge Digital Divide in Rural Areas BEIJING, Nov 25, 2003 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Ministry of Education of China(MoE) and US software giant Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) signed a framework agreement in Beijing to expand long-distance education deep into China's rural areas.

The agreement is a further fulfillment to the memorandum of understanding signed between The State Development Planning Commission China (SDPC) and Microsoft. Microsoft will donate USD 10 million (USD 1 = CNY 8.277) withinfive years to support primary education and normal education inChina, especially the grass roots education.
