AsiaInfo Services 03-01-2004 Benq Supports WAPI CHINA, Mar 01, 2004 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- After TI (Texas Instruments), Atheros, and some international WALN chipmakers supported WAPI,China's WLAN standard, Benq Corporation announced on February 25 that it was going to launch the notebook computers accredited by WAPI. Benq was established in April 1984, specializing in network products.

Zhang Shicheng, majordomo of the notebook computer ofBenq, revealed to Pconline that Benq had cooperated with 24 Chinese companies that got WAPI accreditation with the help of a Taiwan wireless network module maker, so as to get the detailed technique of WAPI and adopt it in notebook computers.
