MAY 15 TO BECOME DEADLINE FOR ANTI-WAPI MANUFACTURERS

AsiaInfo Services 04-05-2004 May 15 to Become Deadline for Anti-WAPI Manufacturers CHINA, Apr 05, 2004 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- There is new development about China's WAPI standard. China Certification Center for Electromagnetic Compatibility, the appointed authority, announced on March 29 that relevant manufacturers would have noaccess to China's 3C identity if they refuse to follow WAPI standard before May 15. The Standardization Administration of China approved wireless authentication and privacy infrastructure, called WAPI in May 2003.
The standard came into effect on December 2003, and a transitional period has been granted that extends the compliance deadline to June 1, 2004. This marks that June 1 is the deadline for all the companies who sell or import...
