AsiaInfo Services 09-02-2004 UTStarcom Expects China's PHS User Base to Jump SHANGHAI, Sep 02, 2004 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- UTStarcom, a world leader in telecommunications technology, is bullish on the prospect of China's PHS handset market, said Xiang Weiguan, UTStarcom's director in charge of terminal sector. Last year, 86% of UTStarcom's operating revenue came from Chinamarket only, most of which came from PHS handset.

But after itsoperating performance in the second quarter showed that earnings per share were less than the expected USD0.01, the UTStarcom's stock, with an annual average growth rate of 106% in recent years, took a surprising sharp fall on Nasdaq.
