AsiaInfo Services 09-13-2004 Chinese Carriers to Realize SMS Interoperability CHINA, Sep 13, 2004 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- The interoperability of PHS short messaging service between China Telecom, China's biggest fixed-phone carrier, and China Network Communications Corporation(CNC), the smaller rival, is currently in trial operation. The two parties plan to launch such business in mid-September.
PHS handsets will also realize short messaging service interoperability with mobile phones within 2004. Sources say that the inter-carrier settlement has taken place of technology to become the final bottleneck for SMS interoperability between PHS handset and cell phones.
