AsiaInfo Services 09-21-2004 China Unicom Saw User Base Up by 1.6mn in August BEIJING, Sep 21, 2004 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Unicom, the second biggest telecom carrier in China, recently announced that its user base increased by 1.6 million in August this year. The total users amounted to 105.84 million, with monthly increase of 1.5%. Among these new users, there were 710,000 CDMA ones.
And the total CDMA users arrived at 25.14 million. China Unicom mainly focuses on profitability, so the growth of user base slowed down to some extent. China has 300 million mobile users at present, but majority of them are users of China Mobile, the bigger rival of China Unicom.
