GM, SAIC AGREE TO JOINTLY MAKE HYBRID BUSES

AsiaInfo Services 10-25-2004 GM, SAIC Agree to Jointly Make Hybrid Buses SHANGHAI, Oct 22, 2004 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) reached an agreement to make hybrid buses and evaluate its commercial potential in China, announced the two parties in Shanghai last week. This model of hybrid bus will be installed with the world's most advanced hybrid engines developed by GM, said GM VP of Environment and Energy Beth Lowery. GM and SAIC will put their first joint hybrid bus into operation, so as to get to know the running condition of the bus on China's roads. The hybrid technology is already being used to power public buses in several American cities, including Seattle, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Portland....
