AsiaInfo Services 03-16-2005 Alibaba.com Edges into Search Engine Market BEIJING, Mar 16, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- The world's largest business-to-business marketplace for global trade Alibaba.com announced at its Hangzhou headquarters that it would launch keywords list-upon-price search engine services, in an effort to edge into the list-upon-price search market under the monopoly of Yahoo!, Google and Baidu.com. By March 11, around 13,000 TrustPass members participated in the list-upon-price bidding, and 20 key words were bought at CNY 16,000 each. Currently, Google, Yahoo! and Baidu.com take the majority shareof list-upon-price search market, and search engine ranking hasbecome a major source of revenues for domestic search engine providers.
