AsiaInfo Services 03-28-2005 Telecom Operators Set Eyes on IPTV CHINA, Mar 28, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Telecom and China Netcom, twodominant fixed-line operators in the country, set foot into theIPTV field despite of the existing policy barrier. China Telecom has privately grouped an IPTV alliance last October, revealed a reliable source.
The alliance is open-ended, and over ten equipment providers have joined it. The alliance, comprised of five groups, classifies different content of IPTV and discusses a uniform IPTV corporate standard. It is said that the draft of the standard has been worked out and is under testing, which is expected to be finished at the end of this month. China Telecom is planning for testing in a few southern provinces...
