AsiaInfo Services 04-18-2005 China Unicom to Launch CDMA/GSM Dual-mode Card in Shanghai SHANGHAI, Apr 18, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- The Shanghai branch of China Unicom, a dominant mobile telecom carrier in China, plans to launch dual-mode card for mobile phone users at the end of April, said an executive at the Shanghai branch. Dual-mode card can enable cellphone users to switch between CDMA network and GSM network freely with the same account number.
By using dual-mode card, the existing 130 and 131 userscould not only retain their phone numbers, but also enjoy the CDMA1X-based wireless data business services like games, onlinenews, and positioning.
