GOLDMAN SACHS TO TAKE STAKE IN CHINA'S STATE COMMERCIAL BANK

AsiaInfo Services 04-26-2005 Goldman Sachs to Take Stake in China's State Commercial Bank CHINA, Apr 26, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Goldman Sachs, a global leading investment bank, hopes to fulfill its desire to take a stake inChina's state-owned commercial bank before this yearend, said Henry Cornell, managing director at Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs would seek for opportunities to take a no-less-than 5 percent stake in a state-owned commercial bank and make an investment of USD200 million at least before the public listing of China's four largest state-owned commercial banks, said Cornell.
