CHINA UNICOM'S NET PROFIT FELL 26% IN Q1

AsiaInfo Services 05-02-2005 China Unicom's Net Profit Fell 26% in Q1 BEIJING, May 02, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China's second biggest mobile operator China Unicom brought in CNY 1.06 billion (USD 1 = CNY 8.27) net profit in the first quarter this year, and the figureplummeted 26% compared with CNY 1.44 billion in the previous year, accordingly to results of the company. ARPU of CDMA service subscribers in the company had fallen to CNY 77.5 in the first three months from CNY 85.3 at the end of last year.
At the same time, ARPU of GSM service subscribers had dropped from CNY 49.4 to CNY 46.9. Earlier, analysts forecast that the company would earn CNY 1.07billion profit in the first quarter, and it profits for the full year would increase 7% to CNY 4.7...
