AsiaInfo Services 05-25-2005 EC Has No Intention to Resume Import Quotas on Chinese Textile CHINA, May 25, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- European Commission (EC) had no intention of resorting to resumption of import quotas on Chinese textile products to solve surging exports of Chinese textile products, said Mandel, trade commissioner of EU Committee. China is the world's largest apparel exporter, and the export volume reached USD97.4 billion last year. The US textile industry estimated that apparels from China were58% cheaper than that from Bangladesh and India last year.
