AsiaInfo Services 06-21-2005 18 Chinese Cities to Test Run IPTV Business SHANGHAI, Jun 21, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China's two major fixed-line telephone carriers China Telecom and China Netcom have inked agreements with Shanghai Media Group (SMG) to start IPTV business in pilot cities.The latter company just obtained the first and the only operation license for the service in mainland China.Li Ruigang, president of the media group, admitted that they have reached framework agreements and are discussing where to offer the service.
However, he declined to reveal detailed information.China Telecom and the media group agreed to pick 17 pilot cities in five provinces, including Shanghai, Guangdong,Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shaanxi. In the meantime, China Netcom will...
