AsiaInfo Services 06-22-2005 China Unicom's Newly-added User Base Hit 1.44mn in May BEIJING, Jun 22, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Unicom, the country's second-largest mobile telecom carrier, on June 20 reported that its newly-added user base topped about 1.44 million in May, growing at a faster pace against a month earlier.Reuters reports say the carrier's user base has increased by 1.22 percent to 119.23 million at the end of May, compared with 117.79 million in the same period a month ago.And its newly-added user base only reached 1.36 million in April with the lowest growth rate in two years, beaten by increasing stiffer competition in the mainland's low-end terminal user market.Its GSM user base climbed to 887.59 million at May-end from 878.65 million in the...
