AsiaInfo Services 07-26-2005 Wal-Mart's First Shanghai Outlet to Open on July 28 SHANGHAI, Jul 26, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., the largest retailer in the world, is about to open its first outlet in southeast China's Shanghai on July 28.The outlet will source 30% of its commodities from more than 550 local companies.
These suppliers mainly provide special local products, fresh food and household appliances.And 350 local suppliers are included in Wal-Mart's nationwide sourcing system for the first time, which is aimed to make the Shanghai outlet competitive locally, according to Zeng Qiang, a senior in Wal-Mart China headquarters.The outlet, covering an area of 18,000 square meters, sells about 20,000 kinds of commodities.
