AsiaInfo Services 08-09-2005 FAW, Toyota to Produce Hybrid Prius Car in China CHANGCHUN, Aug 09, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China FAW Group Corporation (FAW Group) general manager Jin Yi disclosed that its FAW Fengyue Automobile Co., Ltd. will produce hybrid-powered Prius cars within this year.FAW Fengyue Automobile is a 50-50 joint venture between FAW Group, one of the leading automakers in China, and Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota), the world's second-largest automaker.It was once a wholly-owned subsidiary of FAW Group engaged in producing Toyota's Land Cruiser sport utilities.Prius, came into the market in 1997, is the world's first model of hybrid car that has realized mass production.The car effectively combines gasoline engine and electric engine.
