AsiaInfo Services 09-13-2005 Huawei European Headquarters Reshuffles for Big Order from BT SHENZHEN, Sep 13, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- European headquarters of Huawei Technologies, China's top telecom equipment maker, is restructuring various divisions for an unprecedented large order from BT. Earlier, Huawei Technologies had been picked as one of the eight preferred telecom equipment suppliers for "21st Century Network" of BT. According to plan, BT is to pump an investment of GBP 10 billion (GBP 1 = CNY 14.83) into construction of the "21st Century Network", and evolve the current PSTN, or Public Switched Telephone Network, to be telecom-level IP (Internet Protocol) Network, in the following five years.
