AsiaInfo Services 09-29-2005 No Timetable for Irremovable-UIM PHS Phones to Exit Market BEIJING, Sep 29, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- On September 27, a director from China Netcom's Beijing branch denied the rumor that the PHS handsets with irremovable user identity modules (irremovable UIM) would be entirely withdrawn from market this month. For now, there is no any timetable for the withdrawal, he added. The director expressed that the forcible market withdrawal was not practicable because the remaining inventory of irremovable-UIM PHS handsets were still selling on the market as usual, adding that the manufacturers have not stopped production of this kind of handsets.
