AsiaInfo Services 10-26-2005 China Telecom Tries to Launch IPTV Services in 5 Provinces CHINA, Oct 26, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Telecom tries to launch internet protocol television (IPTV) services in 17 cities of 5 provinces across the country, insiders revealed recently. Many leading telecom equipment manufacturers, such as Huawei, Lucent, Alcatel and Intel, are eager to get slices of the lucrative market. ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063; SEHK: 0763), China's largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and wireless solutions provider, is selected as the only company to offer IPTV equipment to Shaanxi Telecom, a subsidiary of China Telecom to launch the services.
