AsiaInfo Services 10-31-2005 CNPC Successfully Acquired PK CHINA, Oct 31, 2005 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- PetroKazakhstan Inc (PK) announced on October 26 that a court in its headquarters Canada has approved the offer by China National Petroleum Corporation International (CNPCI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), of acquiring it for USD 4.18 billion. Hence, CNPC is to take over PK with USD 55 per share and the offer will take effect when the latter signs it within two days after the verdict. The acquisition has been the largest one by a Chinese firm and it is bound to promote the energy cooperation between CNPC and the Kazak petroleum industry.
