AsiaInfo Services 01-10-2006 China Unicom Launches Handset Navigation Service BEIJING, Jan 10, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China United Telecommunications Corporation (China Unicom) announced on January 6 that it had launched the mobile phone navigation service for commercial use in 114 cities at the beginning of this month. The first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are all covered by the service with a monthly charge of CNY 18. As the country's second biggest mobile carrier, China Unicom is going to promote the CDMA handset-based navigation service in some 195 cities by the end of the quarter ended March 31, and then cover the remaining cities gradually, said a vice head with the Being-based group's value added department.
