AsiaInfo Services 01-18-2006 China Mobile Invests CNY9bn in Rural Telecom Construction BEIJING, Jan 18, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC, or China Mobile), the largest mobile telecom carrier in the country, has accumulatively invested CNY 9 billion in enabling 25,862 administrative villages to access to telephones.
The investment has improved the telephone penetration rate of all Chinese villages by 3.7 percentage point. The Chinese government sponsors a nationwide project to make all its rural residents have telephones and to narrow the gap between rural area and urban area in terms of the digitalization.
