AsiaInfo Services 02-10-2006 Shanghai GM Kept Leading Position in China in Jan with Sales BEIJING, Feb 10, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Automakers in China saw their production and sales surge in January of 2006. Shanghai GM continued to take the leading position in the market there. Sources unveiled that some mainstream automakers required dealers to clear stockpile to achieve satisfactory sales by the end of 2004.
This absolutely resulted in sharply declining sales in January of last year generally once dealers cannot clear stock successfully. Low-key Beijing Hyundai surprisingly took the champion position with a monthly sales of 20,000 units in the first month of the previous year.
