AsiaInfo Services 02-28-2006 China Mobile Denied Cooperation on VOIP Service BEIJING, Feb 28, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- It was said that China Mobile, the global largest mobile carrier, would join forces with seven overseas wireless communications service providers to launch VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) business. However, China Mobile spokesperson Zhao Yi refuted the rumor, saying the company had never mentioned such a matter.
But no further explanation was available then. Insiders believed that it is almost impossible for China Mobile or China Unicom, two major mobile operators in the country, to present the VOIP service. If they did so, a number of VOIP service providers would be hurt. But finally the operators' own voice business will be harmed...
