AsiaInfo Services 07-06-2006 China Becomes World's Fourth Biggest Economy BEIJING, Jul 06, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- The World Bank announces that China has become the world's fourth largest economy in terms of the gross domestic product of 2005. On July 3, the World Bank posted the list of countries by GDP for the year of 2005.
China's GDP reached USD 2.229 trillion in total, surpassing Italy and France, and even slightly over the UK. The list includes 183 countries and territories around the world and the US is still the No.1 with a GDP of as large as USD 12.455 trillion, far higher than Japan, which holds the second position with USD 4.505 trillion.
