AsiaInfo Services 11-22-2006 SANYO to Transfer Handsets Production to China Next Year SHANGHAI, Nov 22, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Japan's SANYO Electric has decided to transfer its mobile phone production lines to China before the end of March next year, sources reported. Due to the regrouping of its mobile phone operations in the US, SANYO has seen its mobile phone sales dropping, which may lead to loss for SANYO's mobile phone business division in the first half of the fiscal year 2006, while it was profitable in the fiscal year 2005 ending this March. Besides the transfer of the mobile phone production, SANYO also plans to cut about 1,000 jobs, insiders revealed.
