AsiaInfo Services 01-22-2007 Baidu to Join Internet Portal Competition BEIJING, Jan 22, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Baidu, the most widely-used search engine in China, will cut into internet portals' playground to win a share, which is to bring a weighty attack to the market leaders including Sina.com and Sohu.com. According to well-informed sources, Baidu has been approved to provide network news and information services by the market regulatory body, even though the company has not yet admitted it directly. Baidu's PR department said that there were indeed three licenses for network news service operation to be issued soon, but it was still unknown for now who would get them.
