AsiaInfo Services 03-08-2007 World Record Firms File Lawsuit against Yahoo on Piracy BEIJING, Mar 08, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- A couple of noted record companies worldwide have filed a lawsuit against Yahoo!, Inc., a major Internet portal, on suspected pirating of music products. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) took the lead in the case.
EMI, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music and Universal Music required Yahoo China to compensate about CNY 5.50 million for their losses. However, they lost a similar lawsuit against Baidu.com, Inc., the top Chinese online search company across the world, last year.
