AsiaInfo Services 03-23-2007 China Unicom's GPRS to Sweep the Country BEIJING, Mar 23, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Unicom, a leading telecom operator in the country, pushed its value-added GPRS businesses to start trial for commercial use in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing after the Chinese Spring Festival. It means that the promotion of GPRS business in large scale will begin soon. The company has launched some value-added services, such as mobile phone magazine, for its GPRS business, and its GSM network is upgraded to EDGE (enhanced data rate for GSM evolution), the 2.75-generation network, in Shanghai.
