AsiaInfo Services 03-26-2007 Fixed-line Telecom Operators Expanding IPTV in China SHANGHAI, Mar 26, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Telecom and China Netcom, two leading fixed-line telecom carriers, are occupied with the distribution of networks and system equipment of IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) in over 100 cities nationwide. In March, domestic telecom equipment giant ZTE Corporation won the bidding of IPTV equipment supply to China Telecom Hubei Branch.
The bidding covers seven cities or areas of Hubei Province, central China, holding 78,000 users. The bidding, adopted video coding standard H.264, attracted five equipment manufacturers Huawei Technologies, ZTE, UTStarcom, Siemens and Alcatel Shanghai Bell.
