AsiaInfo Services 04-05-2007 China Telecom Promotes IPTV Business BEIJING, Apr 05, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Telecommunications Co., Ltd., the largest fix-line telecom carrier in the nation, has obtained licenses for commencing IPTV (Internet protocol television) business in Shanghai, Taizhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Xi'an and Hanzhong. From the facet of policies, the surveillance policy is now developing to positive direction, said China Telecom chief engineer Wei Leping.
However, the telecom giant has more than 300 native networks in China, it still has 95% of the total networks without IPTV licenses. It is time for Chinese telecom regulaters to fully open up the IPTV business. China Telecom has won a total of 190,000 IPTV users by the end of 2006,...
