AsiaInfo Services 05-23-2007 EA to Buy The9's 15% Stake with USD167mn SHANGHAI, May 23, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Electronic Arts, a US-based video game publisher, will buy a 15% stake in The9 Limited for roughly USD 167 million, announced Nasdaq-traded The9, China's leading online game operator. Correspondingly, EA agreed to give The9 the rights to distribute its sports game FIFA Online in China Mainland. Analysts are bullish on the cooperation between The9 and EA, saying the two are taking what they need respectively.
