AsiaInfo Services 05-23-2007 China Unicom to Expand GPRS Network Nationwide BEIJING, May 23, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Unicom (SEHK: 0762), the second largest mobile telecom operator in the country, is set to carry out a sweeping expansion of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network nationwide in order to cover all the prefecture-level cities, revealed a person access to the information. So far, the company's GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) network has turned to be the 2.5G GPRS network,which can provide large-scale services for 70 first-tier citiesin the country.
