AsiaInfo Services 06-25-2007 SAIC to Produce Roewe W261 in End-07 SHANGHAI, Jun 25, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Shanghai Automotive Co., Ltd. (600104, SH), a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group) (SAIC), one of the largest automaker in China, will put Roewe W261 into production at the end of 2007 in its passenger car unit. This will be the second new self-developed car model of the company after Roewe 750 launched this year.
Besides being shelved in Chinese market, Roewe W261 will tap into the European market in 2008 under the brand name of Ssangyong before returning to Roewe brand in 2010.
