AsiaInfo Services 07-10-2007 China Unicom Invites Bidding for IP Bearing Network BEIJING, Jul 10, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Unicom, the second largest mobile telecom operator in the country, has started to invite bidding to purchase equipment for its IP bearing network in the recent days. The project, expected to be a base for the telecom operator to provide IP voice, multi-media business and VPN (virtual private network) business services for its users, will kick off construction from the beginning of 2007 and finished before the end of this year. The network will cover 173 prefecture-level cities of 30 provinces and autonomous regions across the country and the capacity of the system at initial stages is about 400 to 500 routers.
