AsiaInfo Services 08-17-2007 China Telecom May Give up China Unicom's CDMA Assets BEIJING, Aug 17, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Telecom's strategic acquisition of China Unicom's CDMA (code division multiple access) assets is likely to be laid on table, said the world's leading finial services provider UBS on August 15. UBS said in a statement that China Unicom, the nation's second largest mobile telecom operator, plans to sell its CDMA assets at the target price of USD 14.6 billion.
However, China Telecom, the country's largest fixed-line telecom operator, plans to put the aforesaid telecom assets into its own bag for USD 8 billion to USD 8.5 billion. UBS believed that the main reason why both Chinese telecom giants have not entered into an agreement...
