AsiaInfo Services 09-06-2007 BenQ Shifted Projector Production Line to Suzhou SUZHOU, Sep 06, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Taiwan-based computer maker BenQ Corporation has shifted its global household-use projector production line into the Suzhou base. The size of the consumer projector market will exceed 1 million units in 2007 and climb to 2.3 million units in 2010, representing a fourth of the projector market, because homehouse users have growing demand for large-screen displays.
The BenQ Projector Division has taken the lead in developing household-use products. Foreign-made projectors will be imposed a 30% tariff and a 17% value-added tax on, if they are imported to China through the customs. Thus, their prices remain high and there are many smuggled...
