AsiaInfo Services 10-16-2007 China Unicom Bidding For a HK 3G License BEIJING, Oct 16, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China's second largest mobile carrier China Unicom Ltd. (SEHK: 0762 and SHSE: 600050) has bidden for the fifth license of the third-generation mobile telecommunications operation in Hong Kong, according to people close to the deal. The company is in negotiations with three local telecoms operators, Hutchison Telecommunications International, City Telecom (HK) Ltd, and Wharf T&T Ltd., to choose one of them to jointly bid for the license. The license is to be issued around the end of October or the beginning of November at a bottom price of HKD 76 million.
