AsiaInfo Services 10-16-2007 Good Sales Drive Volkswagen to Add New Factory in China BEIJING, Oct 16, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Volkswagen AG, a leading automaker in the world, achieved better-than-expected sales performance in China in the past months of 2007, which promotes it to adjust forward its sales goal in the country to 900,000 cars from 800,000 cars and to consider setting up a new factory. The German automaker, which has two ventures in China, namely Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW Volkswagen, sold 684,786 cars with a yearly rise of 30.2% in the country during the first nine months of this year.
Its total cost in the country is expected to fall by 30%, faster than expected, says Winfried Vahland, president of the automaker's China branch. The...
