AsiaInfo Services 10-17-2007 China Unicom Not to Participate in 3G Bidding for HK BEIJING, Oct 17, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- China Unicom, the nation's second largest mobile phone operator after China Mobile, announced on October 15 that it would not participate in the bidding for 3G licenses of Hong Kong on schedule. The Chinese mobile phone giant said in a statement that the deployment of CDMA2000 networks will not only help Hong Kong to maintain its position as an International financial hub as we as a modern metropolitan in the world, but also can help it balance the development of its entire telecoms industry. Besides, the CDMA2000 networks will provide roaming services to the world's 400 million CDMA subscribers, especially for 40 million in the mainland....
