BEA PREPARING FOR A-SHARE LISTING

AsiaInfo Services 12-31-2007 BEA Preparing for A-Share Listing SHANGHAI, Dec 31, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Bank of East Asia is expecting to become the first foreign bank to list in the mainland's A-share stock market. BEA has set up a task force responsible for handling A-share listing and is awaiting Chinese authorities to release rules regarding foreign corporations' A-share listing, said a BEA executive. During the third China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue, the Chinese government agreed to allow qualified foreign companies to issue renminbi-denominated shares. Upon this, BEA has communicated with related regulators and Shanghai Stock Exchange.
It has not decided whether to launch an overall listing or jut list its China-incorporated BEA (China)...
