AsiaInfo Services 02-22-2008 Huawei & Bain Failed in Acquisition of 3Com BEIJING, Feb 22, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- The acquisition of network-based intrusion prevention system provider 3Com Corp. (Nasdaq: COMS), jointly by the Chinese telecommunications equipment provider Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
and the global private investment firm Bain Capital Partners LLC, failed. Bain withdrew the acquisition application to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) On February 20, 2008. The move dedicated that the deal did not gain regulatory approval.
