AsiaInfo Services 03-20-2008 Shenzhen SME Board Index Dived to New Low since 2008 Start SHANGHAI, Mar 20, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- The benchmark Shanghai and Shenzhen stock indexes continued steep decline on March 18 because of spreading panic on the market. The SME (small and medium Enterprise) Board Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange dropped to a new low since the inception of the year, and more than 30 stocks slipped to the daily limit-down. The SME Board Index opened lower at 5,129.60 and closed at 4,822.92, plunging 366.27 points or 7.06 percent.

The index once hit 5,187.34 at the highest and 4,751.42 at the lowest during the intraday trading. The SME Board Composite Index opened at 4,859.71 and ended at 4,566.52, diving 350.37 points or 7.13...
