Brazil: MetLife aims at market leadership.

MetLife aims to become the number one life insurance firm in Brazil. The segment generated sales of R$3.5bil last year. The company also aims to lead the domestic pension funds market in the future. It invested US$5.3mil last year in market research, up from the US$3.7mil invested in 1997, when it was authorized to operate in the country. The company signed R$2mil annual contracts in Brazil between April and the present date. It will search for a local partner in order to grow its business.
