Brazil: CSN issued commercial papers.

The Brazilian iron & steel company CSN signed yesterday an agreement with Bank of America so as to raise US$300mil through a US commercial papers issue. The capital will be used to finance coal imports and the company's exports. The issuance was led by Bank of America andguaranteed by Barclays Bank and co-arranged by Unibanco Grand Cayman, ABN Amro Bank, Banco LatinoAmericano de Exportaciones, Banco Itau Grand Cayman and Midland Bank. CSN had issued US$175mil US commercial papers last June. The next international issuance will take place in June, 2000, when the US$500mil euronotes issued in 1998 will be due.
