Brazil: 4 groups will compete for gas concession in Sao Paulo.

Enron, CMS, Gas Natural and Agip Liquigas submitted yesterday tenders for the concession of natural gas distribution in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Enron and Natural Gas will bid alone, while Agip teams the Gas Brasiliano consortium and CMS (70%) teams the Noroeste Gas consortium along with BR Distribuidora (30%). The government will offer an area located in the northwestern region of the state at a starting privatization price of R$110mil. Bids will be disclosed on the 9th of November, 1999. The new concessionaire will have to invest R$100mil over a 10-year term to build citygates and a gas distribution network.
